An extensive redesign of the City of Racine’s digital presence. Because the city’s existing CMS had reached end of life, the work ran in two stages: a stop-gap website to keep every service reachable, then a modern site built for what the city needs next.
Challenges
The City of Racine needed to move off a legacy website system that was reaching end of life, without interrupting resident access to essential services, while also closing accessibility gaps on the existing site.
What we built
SmartRoots managed a phased transition, including an interim website to maintain continuity, then delivered a modern, fully accessible WordPress site with simplified navigation and staff-managed content. The partnership continues today with ongoing support and maintenance.
